Magna Science Adventure

As far as things to do in South Yorkshire go, the Magna Science Adventure is a great choice and offers a unique experience. Based just outside of Rotherham, this interactive museum is based in an old steelworks. It has plenty of hands-on activities to keep the whole family entertained.

While here, you will find over 100 exhibits. These include a 5-metre tornado made of fire, a water area, and an hourly show that tells the story of how steel used to be made. If the weather is fine, there is also a huge outdoor play area for the kids to enjoy.

Wigfield Farm

Things to do in South Yorkshire during half term also include some great ways to enjoy the great outdoors. You can certainly do that here at this working farm that is based in Worsbrough, just along the road from Barnsley.

Here, you and the kids can see over 60 species of animals. There is a great mix of those that you would typically find on a farm as well as those that are a little more exotic. There are plenty of opportunities to up close and personal with the animals here and it really is a great day out.

Calypso Cove Waterpark

Located in the Metrodome Leisure Complex, South Yorkshire, this is one of the biggest waterparks in the whole of the UK. If you are looking for great things to do, then this has to be on your list as it provides oodles of fun for the whole family.

This pirate-themed waterpark has areas that are suitable for children of different ages. With attractions such as the Barnacle Bay for the youngsters and a splash zone just for the under 8s. With water cannons and water slides, there is certainly enough to keep the family entertained.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

This has to be one of the best places to visit in South Yorkshire, even when it isn’t half term. This wildlife park is, to all intents and purposes, a zoo that is spread over a vast area. What you will notice is that all of the animals have generously sized enclosures, and they are all clearly cared for.

As well as reptiles and bats, you can enjoy getting up close to lions, zebras, and even polar bears.

Hollywood Bowl Sheffield

If you are wanting things to do in Sheffield, then Hollywood Bowl provides plenty of entertainment. Here, you and the family can enjoy a game of 10 pin bowling as well as explore the arcade games that are available. There is even the chance to upgrade to a VIP experience.

If you’re feeling peckish, you can enjoy all that the America style diner has to offer either before, or after your game. If you manage to get any child free time this half term then check out the best cocktail bars Sheffield has to offer
