The Botanist Sheffield - New Autumn Menu

The Botanist Sheffield New Autumn Menu Launch

I love eating out and I love Sheffield, if you've been here before you've probably seen that I try and eat Sheffield often and review all the delicious food so I was thrilled to be asked to review The Botanist Sheffield's new Autumn Menu Launch*. I've been to the Botanist a few times and absolutely adore their butterfly garden room it is completely magical. We pored over the menu and made some delicious choices.

Starters

Botanist Cheesy Garlic Bread

I made the easiest decision of the whole night with my starter I went with a Cheesy Garlic Bread because ALL THE CARBS and I'm a sucker for garlic cheese goodness and I wasn't disappointed at all. It arrived in an adorable little picnic basket and was an entire small loaf to myself so Connor obviously had to share with me but it was absolutely delicious! The cheese pull was insane and I was thrilled with my choice

Botanist Calamari

Connor decided to have Calamari which in his words was "the best Calamari he's ever had" high compliments indeed because he can be a tough critic with these things.

After devouring our starters we made main decisions

Mains

Chicken and Chorizo Hanging Kebab

I had serious food envy with the mains, Connor settled on a Botanist classic hanging kebab of chicken and chorizo with garlic butter it looked and smelt absolutely incredible, and there wasn't a single thing left which suggests Connor was very happy with his choice!

Botanist Buttermilk Chicken Burger

I settled on a Buttermilk Chicken Burger with Jalepeno Cheese which was really nice but surprisingly seemed to have quite a lot of BBQ sauce? I'm not a huge BBQ sauce lover so it would have been good to see this detail on the menu, nevertheless the chicken was succulent and the properly seasoned chips were delicious

Dessert

Botanist Cookie Dough

After my main I was really looking forward to Dessert - I could have literally picked any of them they sounded so so good but I went for the Cookie Dough which comes with Oreos and vanilla ice cream. It sounded incredible and unfortunately the pictures and description were probably the best bit. It looked amazing but it tasted undercooked and floury, I ate it because well Dessert? But it was slightly gritty and left me very underwhelmed
Botanist Sticky Toffee Pudding

Connor on the other hand had Sticky toffee pudding which was amazing, the sauce was incredible and the pudding was old school just how you remember sticky toffee pudding to be.

Overall View

Overall? The service was brilliant if a little slow, it took around 2hrs 30m for the full three courses. Which is brilliant if you're looking for a leisurely occasion so maybe keep that in mind. The autumn menu is brilliant there's some amazing new options such as Pies, Baked Camembert and new hanging kebab choices. Our meal was mixed but that's probably me being overly fussy! I think the menu could have a few additions to explain the meals a little more, Connor however had a delicious three course meal and loved it all.

I'll be back to the Botanist definitely to try a few more options (and hopefully try a better dessert!)
