Can you believe we're over halfway through the year? You wouldn't know it with the weather outside but we're officially in summer now so it's time to find lots of cool summer activities and things to do in Sheffield (previous monthly editions can be found here: April / May / June )

13th July - 14th July - Vintage Island 1940s weekend

Location: Kelham Island Museum, S3 8RY
Cost: £6 adults Kids go free
Reminisce about the good old days with the 10th anniversary Vintage 1940s weekend at Kelham Island. With music and dancing, re-enactments and vintage stores galore it's the perfect excuse to find your vintage tea dress and go big on the curls to embrace the style of the 40s


17th July - Modern Calligraphy Workshop

Location: Upstairs at Cutlery Works, between Edo Sushi & Boozehound: 73-101 Neepsend Lane, Sheffield S3 8AT
Cost: £35
There's just something so pretty about Calligraphy and Brush Lettering, this workshop is perfect for beginners as Nikki Whiston Inks teaches you the art of brush lettering to make your own labels, quotes or basically anything pretty with words! Materials all provided and you'll leave with a brand new skill


19th July - 21st July - Tramlines

Location: Hillsborough Park, S6 2AB
Cost: Day tickets starting from £40
Oh tramlines! I've been so many times and have very fond memories of free tickets when it very first started, it's definitely much cooler and hipper these days but the line up looks brilliant! Definitely not one to miss if you're in Sheffield 


27th July - Pride In Sheffield

Location: Endcliffe Park, S11 7AB
Cost: Free
On the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and the 11th year for a Pride Sheffield event this is sure to be whole heaps of fun. From gorgeous musical acts to a real sense of community be sure to head out to support the LGBTQ+ community in a real family friendly day


27th July - 28th July Taste The World Food Festival

Location: Victoria Quays Wharf Street Sheffield S2 5SY
Cost: Free entry
Drop by and taste the world at Victoria Quays, a whole host of independent food stalls from around the world, stage entertainment and even cookery displays. Make sure you're hungry for this one


29th July - 3rd August Avenue Q Musical

Location: Lyceum Theatre, S1 1DA  
Cost: £19 - £35
I've only ever heard brilliant things about Avenue Q so this has been on my radar for a while! Described as the naughtiest puppets in town with characts such as an Internet sexpert, Lucy the slut and a closet gay republican called Rod this is bound to be hysterical



30th July -  Lakeland Cake Decorating

Location: Meadowhall, S9 1EA
Cost: £15
Everyone loves cakes right? As part of the Meadowhall sessions you can work with experts from Lakeland and learn all about cake decorating including hints and tips to make your creations look more professional with a goodie bag worth £15 this is a bargain

  1. Oh wow, I'd love to go to a calligraphy class! I used to do it as a kid but didn't transfer the skill into adulthood. Ice cream month sounds amazing too, and the vintage weekend! Now I'm wondering why I've never been to Sheffield...

  3. I never got to visit Sheffeild before I permanently moved from the UK to the USA and I think if I get to visit home soon I will make a stop off to see what it has to offer. Sounds like it has a lot going on! Great post!
